Lot Details
41cm x 26cm Approx. Locomotive 817 was originally built by the New Zealand Railways workshops as WAB 817, a WAB-class 4-6-4T tank locomotive. It was one of 11 WAB locomotives converted to AB-class tender locomotives between 1947 and 1957 to meet changing operational needs. During the conversion, its side tanks and coal bunker were removed and a standard Vanderbilt tender was added. It retained its number and became AB 817.
